Abstract:

The term language diarization means to automatically detect and identify and segment audio recordings by language identity. In many South East Asia countries, code-switch speech is common. To successfully use LVCSR on such speech, one crucial step is to identify segments by language. This talk first introduces and analyzes a spontaneous Mandarin-English code-switching speech corpus: SEAME. The second part of this talk discusses language diarization results from the SEAME corpus. In particular, to process short segments found commonly in the corpus, a language diarization system is proposed using long term context feature across several phone-based segments, and the combination of acoustics and phonotactic information.
